treatment
This section contains three drafts of my treatment for my five minute film And Then We'd Be Happy, as an attached documents.
There is also a physical copy of the final draft as a back up.
A treatment reads as a story, telling the reader exactly what is going to happen and what the audience will see in the film.

I was given notes on my first draft on including more descriptive language, this was needed to help other be able to visualise the film in the same way that I can. My aim was to have anyone be able to read my pre production development and be able to see exactly what I could in my head. As the actors were still undecided and being chosen I felt the characters needed some more development so I could pick actors accordingly.

I was given notes on my second draft including more defined changes in scene. Once again this was needed to help there reader see the film, not only as a narrative but also as a physical media product, as a film. Other than that all appeared to be on track.

TREATMENT
by Amy Anderson
A man, a mime stares deeply into the camera as he shoves his mouth greedily with a McDonalds burger, he laughs at the screen.
A couple who sit on a blue couch in a cream room. A computer rests in the background surrounded by papers, which spill over to the back wall. An unused piano stands on the left of the frame, supplies towels and a mirror are rested on the top of it. Directly in front of the couple is a white table, covered in tin cans of food arranged in a visually pleasing manner. The couple sit staring at the cans silently. The woman, Helen, is dressed in a pair of black leggings, big bright woolly socks. A black t-shirt is just visible under her plaid red shirt. Her hair is tousled down her shoulders, half up and half down. She is wearing no make up and looks tired. The man, Daniel, is in an all grey tracksuit, black socks and a black hat. He is messy but comfotable, he also looks tired.
The silence is broken by Helen, she resurrects a previous argument about Daniel not washing his cutlery after he uses it. They fall into a 'give take' dynamic that are typical of two people who are romantically involved. Helen nags Daniel about his messiness, to which Daniel responds that they are now in the position where they can do anything they want in this world, they can live where ever they want and own whatever they've always wanted too. He argues that perspective is needed in Helen's point, the world as they know it has been destroyed and she is focusing on why the forks are dirty. This silences Helen once again and she begins to rearrange some of the supplies and busy herself. To try and fill some of the quiet Daniel gets up and puts on a song.
Helen unsurprisingly begins another attack on Daniel's choice of song, complaining that she has heard this album all week and cant listen to it any more Daniel fights back telling her that the album reminds him of one of his friends, with all people they ever knew dead it is important for both of them to keep memories alive. After a moment of digestion Helen realises that Daniel is 'lying' and that he never liked that friends music taste. A half serious argument follows which neither character take seriously. Daniel changes the music during this. They hug, this is a moment of gentle calm.
Suddenly a voice is heard outside. A woman's voice sounds through the echo of empty streets and abandoned homes. Daniel and Helen are perplexed, as they are, as far as they know, the only survivors. Fearing this unknown voice Daniel prepares himself with a bat and protects Helen from whatever is coming closer and closer to the door. A woman is making her way further towards the door, it is unclear who she is. A knock on the door is heard momentarily before it is thrown open. In the light stands a woman, she is prized on top of sky scraper heels, a short skin tight sequin dress and a leather bag. She is holding a bottle of Glens vodka in one hand. Her make up is immaculate as is her hair. She chews gum and looks around the room, finally settling on Daniel and Helen.
Instantly there is a recognition between Daniel and the woman, who is introduced as Gaby. A confusion reigns over the meeting, it is revealed that Gaby is a past girlfriend of Daniels from year 11.Obviously Helen takes an instant dislike to Gaby and slyly mocks her. Gaby clearly is oblivious to this and decides this is a time to celebrate and begins taking shots of vodka on her own. Daniel is completely bewildered by the whole notion of Gaby standing in front of him. From his confusion spouts an idea. Grabbing a phone he begins to dial, no sooner has it started ringing than a woman picks up with a desperate 'hello'. This leads into Daniel calling every single exes number he has on his phone, including a man. All of his past lovers answer the phone. While Daniel tries to swallow this information and understand it, Helen on the other hand is shocked at the sheer amount of people Daniel has been intimate with.
Finally the fact that all of Daniels past girlfriends are still alive sinks into both of them. The only common denominate of all of them is that the only ones still alive are ones he has had sex with. Therefore the only rational, logical link between all of them is that Daniel has magic sperm. Magic said in the loose term that his sperm clearly has properties that prevents and immunises people from the disease that has destroyed the human race. After a short moment of elation from Daniel that he is now the ultimate man, a man that can now start the world again, change the course of history. His bubble is burst by the drunk rambling of Gaby as she illustrates to him he is stuck on a planet with all of his exes, people he actively doesn't talk to for a reason.
We end with the three characters lying in bed together, Gaby looking incredibly pleased with herself is contrasted by Helens face of thunder. Daniel is completely lost and confused.
