artistic intention
In this section I will explain the artistic intention I had when creating my posters for my five minute film 'And Then We'd Be Happy'. Taking inspiration from the three research posters from Shaun of the Dead, Moonrise Kingdom and Shifter.
I took the majority of my inspiration form Shaun of the Dead and Moonrise Kingdom, as Shifter was without many of the regular conventions that genre film posters contain. For example it was lacking entirely in any institution influence.
I enjoyed the simplicity of the Moonrise Kingdom poster, and the entire cast photograph used. However the genre of the film was not entirely clear from the media language used on the poster.
On the other hand the Shaun of the Dead poster was extremely obvious with genre from their photograph, fonts etc used on the poster. Yet the poster did appear busy and cluttered to me, so I wanted to steer away from this.
I had taken two photographs on the day of filming the short film and I had edited them instantly as I wanted to use them straight away for my two posters.
One I wanted to clearly illustrate the comedy aspects of the film and one to lean more towards the strange storyline.
